When you’re applying for a project, it’s important to start off on the right foot. Begin your cover letter with a friendly and professional greeting.

And also, try to address the client by their first name if you can find it in the job posting. This will show that you are taking the time to personalize your cover letter.

Because calling the client by his name brings a more joyful and personable tone to the cover letter.

3. Be Concise And Clear To The Point

Most freelancers are making mistakes of making the proposal lengthy while applying for a job. This makes it boring and as a result, clients neither respond to you.

The proposal must be short, simple, and clear. Because clients are busy with many more applier like you at a time, and they don’t have much time to read long proposals.

Your cover letter should be around 3-4 paragraphs, with each paragraph focusing on a different aspect of your skills and experience. Be sure to get to the point quickly and avoid rambling.

4. Highlight Your Relevant Skills And Experience

Mostly we see in the job post, that a recruiter has added something as a code word or something like that. Which helps him to get rid of the “copy-paste” applier.

I mean for some people writing a proposal is rocket science and they’re afraid of how to write it. In these cases, they are misguided by someone to make one job applying template and send it to every job. But how can he know that it all goes in vain?

I myself have experienced these keywords while applying for a gig. I noticed that the client has mentioned something like “Mention the code word in your proposal.” So, I did it.

1. Short And Attractive

One of my favorite working templates is the short and attractive method. In this type of template, you have to focus more on the client’s project rather than your own skills.

I’ve seen that many people make a mistake by writing more about themselves in the proposal. It makes the client feel like you’re trying to promote yourself rather than the project.

So, how can you make it attractive? Follow the below template not to copy.


Hello [Client Name],

[If applicable: Thank you for the job invite. It’s a pleasure to meet you.] I’m delighted to make your acquaintance. [Here are three-four short but pertinent questions about the position. This demonstrates that you’ve read the description and know what you’re talking about, as well as providing an opportunity for the client to begin a conversation with you.]

[Here’s where you’ll need to make a briefcase for yourself. 1-2 sentences that explain why you’d be suitable for this position.]

First of all, don’t worry about your lack of experience because everyone has to start from somewhere.

In this template, you have to focus on your skills and try to relate them to the project.
